2 Days Desert Tour Fes to Marrakech Itinerary
Day 1: Fes ⇢ Ifrane ⇢ Middle Atlas Mountains ⇢ Ziz Valley ⇢ Merzouga.
At 8:00 AM, let’s leave Fes behind and head for Ifrane, a mountain town resort and a European village with its cool atmosphere and pretty chalets. Stroll around and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere before you leave for Azrou, where naughty Barbary monkeys await you in the cedar forest. Don’t forget your camera!
Driving through these rolling hills of the Middle Atlas, stop in Midelt, famous for its apples, for a hearty lunch. Go through the breathtaking Tizi n’Taghamt pass and along the Ziz Valley, lined with palm trees and lush greenery, where nature will paint an unforgettable picture.
By late afternoon, you will arrive in Merzouga. Trade the car for a camel and trek into the desert. From the top of a highest dune, watch the sands glow orange and gold as the sun sinks beneath the horizon. At your luxury desert camp, enjoy traditional Berber food with music under the stars, falling asleep to the quiet wonder of the desert.
Day 2: Merzouga ⇢ Ait Ben Haddou ⇢ High Atlas Mountains ⇢ Marrakech.
Wake up early; the sunrise over the desert is worth it! After breakfast in the camp, leave the dunes and set off for the unique Ait Ben Haddou, the ancient fortress, now a World Heritage Site, famous as the film setting for Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia. Walk through its narrow alleys and climb to the top for magnificent views.
Then continue wandering through the twisting paths of the High Atlas Mountains, which certainly provide plenty of photo opportunities among breathtaking vistas and quaint little villages.
Enjoy lunch and stretch your legs before the end of the day when you reach the vibrant city of Marrakech, from where we will drop you off at your accommodation to end this memorable journey.
