3 Days Desert Tour From Fes Itinerary
Day 1: Fes ⇢ Cedar Forest of Azrou ⇢ Ziz Valley ⇢ Merzouga Desert.
Discover your journey at the very first impression-a beautiful drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains, and the charm of Ifrane, known as the Switzerland of Morocco, will be in front of you due to its European style of architecture. After that, you will visit the cedar forests of Azrou, where you can even have a chance to see the Barbary macaques in their natural environment.
As you go south, the landscape will be totally different, from high mountains to the flat ground of the Sahara desert. Ride through Midelt town and the scenic Ziz Valley, which is full of many beautiful oases, each with thousands of palm trees growing there. By the time the sun is setting, you will reach Merzouga, which is where you will have your camel trekking experience.
The camels are going to be your human guides through the hot dunes of Erg Chebbi; they are also going to take you to the top of a high dune, from where you will be able to gaze at the sunset over the Sahara.
Evening will be filled with live traditional Berber music, and you will be served dinner and be given the opportunity to sleep under a clear, starlit sky.
Day 2: Full Day Exploring the Merzouga Desert.
The following day, when you wake up, you will have the chance to see an impressive sunrise over the dunes, where everything will be shiny with golden colors. After breakfast, you will be on your way again.
In Khamlia village, you can immerse yourself in the rich music and the culture of the Gnaoua people with the help of their music teachers. A 4×4 vehicle will be the means of transport to visit a family of Sahara nomads that will provide an outlook into their peculiar lifestyle.
Apart from that, the lake of Dayet Srij is also worth a visit, as during the rainy season, it turns into Kamila, a wonderful place for flamingoes and other birds.
Go for a leisurely time—you can have a go at sandboarding and quad biking or relax in this beautiful desert area. After sunset, go back to your place at Merzouga for a lovely long sleep.
Day 3: Merzouga Desert ⇢ Ziz Valley ⇢ Midelt ⇢ Fes.
Following a hearty breakfast, you will pursue your way back to Fes, the pathway of which will be the same as before through the Ziz Valley and Midelt. There, you can capture beautiful landscapes, and you have time to make countless memorable pictures while enjoying the scenes.
Progressing through the Middle Atlas Mountains, you will come across small but lovely Berber villages before being transferred to Fes towards the end of the day, at the same time, as you wrap up your 3-day desert trip that you will never forget.
