4 Days Marrakech Desert Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech ⇢ High Atlas Mountains ⇢ Skoura ⇢ Rose Valley ⇢ Dades Valley.

We’ll pick you up from your hotel in Marrakech at 8 AM. The drive takes us through the High Atlas Mountains and the Tizi n’Tichka pass, with plenty of chances to stop for photos of the stunning views and Berber villages.
 
Our first major stop is Ait Ben Haddou, an ancient fortified village and UNESCO World Heritage site. Many famous films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones were filmed here. After exploring the Kasbah, we’ll stop for lunch at a local restaurant.
 
In the afternoon, we’ll pass through Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa,” and continue through Skoura’s palm groves and Kalaat M’Gouna, famous for its roses. Just before we check into our hotel in the Dades Valley, we’ll visit the rock formations known as “Monkey Fingers.” Overnight stay in a hotel in the Dades Valley.

Day 2: Dades Valley ⇢ Tinghir ⇢ Todra Gorge ⇢ Merzouga Desert.

After breakfast, we’ll drive along the Dades River, through small Berber villages, to reach the Todra Gorge. You’ll have time to walk along the riverbank and enjoy the dramatic cliffs towering overhead.
 
From there, we’ll head towards Tinejdad and Erfoud, a town famous for its fossil workshops. By late afternoon, we’ll reach Merzouga, where your camel caravan awaits. Ride through the golden dunes as the sun sets, and arrive at your desert camp. Enjoy dinner, listen to traditional Berber music by the campfire, and sleep under the stars in a cozy tent.

Day 3: Merzouga Desert ⇢ Rissani ⇢ Nkoub ⇢ Agdz ⇢ Ouarzazate.

Wake up early to catch the sunrise over the dunes, then enjoy breakfast at the camp. We’ll start our journey west after a camel ride back to Merzouga.
 
First, we’ll visit Khamlia, a small village known for its Gnawa music. Then, we’ll stop in Rissani to see its lively traditional market and learn about its history as an ancient caravan trading hub. The drive continues through the scenic Draa Valley, passing palm groves and Berber villages, including Nkoub and Agdz.

We’ll reach Ouarzazate in the evening, where you’ll spend the night.

Day 4: Ouarzazate ⇢ Ait Ben Haddou ⇢ Telouet Kasbah ⇢ Marrakech.

After breakfast, explore Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa.” Visit the Taourirt Kasbah and, if time allows, the Atlas Studios. Next, we’ll visit Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a must-see site with incredible architecture and history.
 
On the way back to Marrakech, we’ll stop at the Telouet Kasbah, a hidden gem that once belonged to the powerful Glaoui family. The drive continues over the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi n’Tichka, and we’ll arrive in Marrakech by late afternoon or early evening.
