5 Days Desert Tour Marrakech to Fes Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech ⇢ High Atlas Mountains ⇢ Ait Ben Haddou ⇢ Ouarzazate.
Your day begins with a drive into the High Atlas Mountains at 8 a.m. from magnificent Marrakech. We drive the winding Tizi n’Tichka Pass and stop for breathtaking views as well as refreshing mint tea. The first stop is Telouet Kasbah, a historical hidden treasure filled with intricate nuances of design.
Proceed to the UNESCO heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou, the actual filming site for the great movies Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Take time to gaze at this ancient Entre and enjoy your guided tour before heading to Ouarzazate, “the Hollywood of Africa,” where you will also visit the famous Taourirt Kasbah.

Day 2: Ouarzazate ⇢ Skoura ⇢ Klaat M'Gouna ⇢ Dades Valley.
Having finished breakfast we shall turn towards the Skoura Oasis which includes splendid palm groves and the impeccably preserved Amridil Kasbah. From here we will journey through Kelaat M’Gouna, the “Valley of Roses,” with its aromatic rose products. If it is appropriate for the time, you might just catch the rose harvest.
From here, we take the valley road, through the hidden Berber villages of Bou Tharar, surrounded by the lush Dades Valley. By evening we arrive at the dramatic Dades Gorges, where you will again enjoy a traditional dinner and spend the night in a charming local hotel.
Day 3: Dades Valley ⇢ Todra Gorge ⇢ Merzouga Desert.
Have a great breakfast before continuing to our next destination Todra Gorge, a natural paradise with the ability to let nature and climbing aficionados indulge in the splendor of the Canyon and its majestic rock walls above the river.
As we drive to the dunes of the Sahara desert, we slowly reach Merzouga in the late afternoon, where your caravan of camels is ready to carry you into the infinite sandy expanse. The sunset is a treat scenic background colors the sand dunes with a golden hue.
Enjoy a scrumptious local dinner, and enjoy stirring Berber music under the stars around the campfire.
Day 4: Full-Day Merzouga Desert Exploration.
Rise for the sun in the dunes and enjoy breakfast. Today is set aside for an exploration of this magical spot called Merzouga.
You could choose between a deep camel trek into the desert or a thrilling 4WD drive. Highlights include a visit to the seasonal Lake Dayet Srij, an oasis for migratory birds, and Khamlia village, where you will be entertained with traditional Gnawa music.
We also visit Mifis mines and get the chance to interact with local Berber nomad families and get a glimpse into their lives. Have dinner in your Hotel and a night’s stay.
Day 5: Merzouga ⇢ Ziz Valley ⇢ Ifrane ⇢ Fes.
On the last day, farewell the desert of Merzouga, and move towards the expanse of Ziz Valley flowery with smooth palm trees. We will stop for lunch in Midelt before visiting the Cedar Forest of Azrou, the home of playful Barbary monkeys.
The journey ends with a stop in Ifrane, popularly called the Switzerland of Morocco. From there, stretch your legs and enjoy the refreshing mountain air.
With the arrival of the late afternoon, we’ll be in Fes, where your extraordinary journey comes to an end.
