2 Days Marrakech Desert Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech ⇢ High Atlas Mountains ⇢ Merzouga
The tour will begin by picking you up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech and then you drive through the marvelous High Atlas Mountains with their rugged traditional Berber villages in plain sight, providing stunning panoramic views looking down upon various valleys, green oases, and the picture-postcard mountain landscapes. You can break off for lunch at a small village where you get a taste of traditional Moroccan lunch. After having lunch, we’ll continue our way to Merzouga.
The closer you are to the Sahara, the more it is the transition into Erg Chebbi, where the golden sand dunes begin. Mount your camels and begin the camel trek into the desert. In communion with the silence and eternity of beauty of the Sahara Desert. Make a great stop to watch the sunset light up the desert.
Watch how the golden dunes change colors at every minute, while the sun descends dramatically below the horizon, creating one of the most wonderful moments of your journey. After the sunset, we continue to your desert camp. The typical warm Moroccan dinner is set up for you beside the starry skies.
The sleeping arrangements will be in Berber tents, and after dinner, we join in a circle around the campfire for an evening of traditional drumming and Berber music. This is indeed the magic moment in getting connected with the desert and fellow travelers.
Day 2: Merzouga ⇢ Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah ⇢ Marrakech
One such stop is the panoramic viewpoint of Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, an iconic site on the UN Heritage List since 1987. Well-preserved, the village is in high demand by film producers; then several movies and series were picturized here such as Kingdom of Heaven, Prince of Persia, and Game of Thrones.
