2 Days Desert Tour From Fes Itinerary
Day 1: Fes ⇢ Ifrane ⇢ Middle Atlas Mountains ⇢ Ziz Valley ⇢ Merzouga.
Departure: Leave at 8:00 AM from Fes for the “Switzerland of Morocco”-Ifrane. Enjoy the alpine style, then move to the Azrou cedar forest and stop to see mischievous Barbary monkeys.
Head across the scenic Middle Atlas; stop for lunch in Midelt, a pretty mountain town. Continue via the stunning Tizi n’Taghamt pass, the souks, and the palm groves of the Ziz Valley for Merzouga in the late afternoon.
At this stage, convert into a camel and ride it across the dunes to witness a magnificent sunset from the top of the high dune. Afterward, drive into your luxury desert camp in the dunes where dinner, traditional music around the campfire, and some interesting stargazing take place.
Overnight stay in the Desert Camp.
Day 2: Merzouga ⇢ Rissani ⇢ Cedar Forest Azrou Azrou ⇢ Fes.
Wake up in the early morning for a dazzling desert sunrise and head for breakfast at the camp. Then leave from Merzouga and drive through Rissani to see a lively market and fascinating history.
Travel the breathtaking Ziz Valley and back through the Middle Atlas to your starting point. Have lunch along the way, and one last stop in the Azrou’s cedar forest to see some more of those Barbary monkeys. Arrive in Fes around 6:00 PM to end your fantastic desert adventure.
